Catapulting Stars sounds and feels like a classic indie rock album without ever veering into self-consciously retro territory. It's meticulously mixed & sequenced. Very sharp, economical songwriting keeps things thrumming along. Scintillating harmonies & lead lines enter at all the right moments to maximize each song's emotional pull. Favorite track: Backseat.

John Brownell Every track on this record shines! After many listens, I still hear little surprises - synth-y bits, background harmonies, accent percussion... It's a supremely well-crafted and well-produced record. This is one of those albums that, every time I listen, it makes me want to stop everything and go make music. That is about the highest compliment I can give! Favorite track: There You Are.

When an album starts out this strong, you think, There's no way it can be this good throughout. And then, Please let it keep being this good. In the curious case of "Let the Machines," it manages to even exceed the nosebleed expectations it sets with its opening track, taking an indie rock journey essentially across the radio dial of GenX youth, and repeatedly jabbing that cohort's penchant for dread. The effect doesn't fade with repeated listens, either. You'll see. stephancox
